LTE is being hailed by some as a cure-all for mobile operators’ problems. While LTE certainly aims to right the current economic shortcomings, technology by itself does not generate revenue streams. But if service providers take a holistic view of the impacts that LTE will have on their business process and their support systems, they are able to capture the flexibility they hoped for to address rapidly-evolving markets and generate new revenue. 
Wireline fulfillment is still force-fitting IP network management into traditional TDM approaches. With the rapid migration to an all IP core, the present method of facility-based ordering will have to give way to service/parameter-based provisioning based on a whole network approach that fully leverages the potential of IP. This new face of fulfillment will take service providers a big step closer to realizing the cost savings expected from their investment in IP.
